What will you do As an AWS Cloud Engineer/Architect, you’ll play a pivotal role within our team, specialising in designing, building and implementing cloud solutions, creating and optimising cloud infrastructure, developing software applications, integrating systems, and defining architecture best practices. In collaboration with both our team at fourTheorem and our clients, you'll contribute to crafting solutions that tackle complex business challenges. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping and empowering our clients' teams by providing valuable guidance and knowledge. Tasks include: Architect and design scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions on AWS, using best practices in DevOps and cloud-native design. Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform to enable efficient and consistent deployments. Work collaboratively with fourTheorem colleagues and our customers to understand business goals, incrementally deliver new technology to meet those goals, reduce complexity and demonstrate the impact of our approach. Automate the deployment, configuration, and management of infrastructure and services using CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions. Collaborate with development and operations teams to define and implement strategies for monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Amazon CloudWatch or third-party solutions. Optimise applications for cost, performance, and security and work with clients on best practices for infrastructure, data, and application deployment. Mentor and guide teams on AWS architecture patterns, DevOps methodologies, and operational best practices. Evaluate and integrate third-party tools and services into applications to enhance automation, performance, and security. What will you bring 2+ years of experience building and/or architecting distributed applications on AWS. Software development skills with a focus on cloud applications. An understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of any approach, with the ability to make trade-offs to ensure that a solution is right for the customer. Strong proficiency in AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, EC2, API Gateway, IAM, or S3. Hands-on experience with automation and IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK. Proficiency in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or AWS CloudWatch. Proven ability to architect solutions that meet business and technical requirements while balancing performance, scalability, and cost. Communication skills, with a focus on listening and understanding first, but also presenting high-level solutions and implementation details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
