The Auto Physical Damage Appraiser is responsible for delivering auto claims services, investigating and adjusting vehicle damages, and managing the repair process.ResponsibilitiesThe Auto Physical Damage Appraiser delivers auto claims services to customers through various communication channelsWithin established guidelines and framework, the Appraiser is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and adjusting vehicle damagesThis role involves managing, coordinating, and making critical decisions regarding the repair process for our customersYou will work closely with auto body shops and other stakeholders to negotiate repair pricingAdditionally, you will conduct damage verification to determine what damage is related to the specific loss as well as evaluate and settle total loss claimsThis role also provides an opportunity to utilize your leadership and conflict management skills as you guide customers through the claims and repair processProvide claims service via various channels to policy holders and third-party customersAdjust low to moderately complex auto damages claims virtuallyCreate and review estimates, supplements, photos, and supporting documents for accuracy and complianceClearly document thought process, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisionsAcquire and apply basic knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance industry products, services, and processes to include P&C insurance policy contracts and coverages and the General Motors Insurance claims handling processes and proceduresSeek guidance from team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate issues for escalationPartner with and/or directs vendors and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolutionContribute to business goals, performance metrics, and effectively uses tools & technologySupport workload surges and/or catastrophe operations as neededSkillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required0-2 years of auto claims experience writing estimates and total loss evaluations required0-2 years of experience using CCC Portal/estimating software requiredModerate knowledge of automobile parts, terminology, repair techniques, and vehicle constructionStrong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skillsComputer literacy in a Windows operation environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to implement and adapt to rapid changeCreative, innovative and forward-thinking mindsetAbility to navigate and work in multiple systems simultaneouslyExperience handling Property and Casualty claims is preferredProficient with CCC estimating systemBachelor's Degree in related field preferred3+ years of customer service experience preferredInsurance Adjuster License preferredI-Car ProLevel 1 Designation preferredBenefits401K matchingBonding leave for new parents (12 weeks, 100% paid)Tuition assistanceTrainingGM employee auto discountCommunity service payNine company holidaysHealth benefits on day one of employmentCompany OverviewGM Financial is the captive finance company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Company.
