Employment Type: Relief, Permanent Department: Seniors and Children & Youth Services Union: Included (CUPE) Salary Range: $29.87 per hour (Level 3) File #: 26-SCY-11 Posting Date: April 16, 2026 Posting Close: April 30, 2026 Reason for vacancy: Replacement Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Community Programs, the Meals on Wheels (MOW) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the weekend MOW program including but not limited to providing volunteers with instructions, materials, and support; working with drivers to ensure meals have been obtained from sources where it is prepared; following up with clients problems, emergencies, complaints, and communication; managing the kitchen from where the program is centrally operated; foster positive relationships with clients, volunteers, and staff. The Weekend MOW Coordinator is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with Dixon Hall’s Mission, Vision and Values, ensure safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence. Duties and Responsibilities Provide volunteers with the appropriate instructions, materials and support needed to successfully participate in the MOW program. Train, supervise, support, and monitor weekend MOW Volunteers. Work with staff drivers to ensure that meals are picked up from food preparation sources. Communicate client updates to the MOW Supervisor. Report any volunteer issues or concerns to the Volunteer Manager and Meals on Wheels Supervisor. Follow up on any client problems or emergencies, inquiries and complaints and communicate critical information to the Meals on Wheels Supervisor. Drive a vehicle and deliver meals when necessary. Ensure that the kitchen is restored to order at the end of each shift. Foster positive relationships with clients, volunteers, and staff. Meet regularly with manager to discuss individual, team and program effectiveness. Work collaboratively with the department manager, other team members of the department, and other Dixon Hall staff and volunteers. Actively participate in department and agency meetings and events. Work under the guidance of the agency and program policies and procedures, including the Mission, Vision and Values of Dixon Hall Meet regularly with manager to discuss individual, team and program effectiveness Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned, within the purview of the job description. Qualifications Experience in non-profit community services and/or working with seniors and disabled adults an asset. Relevant University Degree or College Diploma an asset (all foreign degrees recognized). Must be available to work alternate weekends and, as required, to cover other weekends and statutory holidays that have not been assigned. Either of the following combinations: a valid Ontario driver’s license, personal auto insurance, consent to a Ministry of Transportation Driver’s Abstract, and your own vehicle, OR a valid Ontario driver’s license, personal auto insurance, consent to a Ministry of Transportation Driver’s abstract, and 25 years of age or older. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal English language skills that include a strong ability to exchange information and knowledge; fluency in a second language will be considered an asset. Flexibility and problem solving skills. Able to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Experience supervising or managing volunteers. Self-directed and independent, as well as proven experience in working effectively as an inter-disciplinary team member and in collaboration with other community professionals. Superior organizational, analytical, problem solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize, take initiative. Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
