Location: Altru Health System PO Box 6002 Grand Forks, ND 58201 Summary: The Release of Information Technician serves as a subject matter expert in health information disclosure, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and legal standards. Specializes in validating authorizations, interpreting legal documentation, and managing complex requests for medical records across multiple requestor types. The Technician provides guidance on regulatory requirements and maintains data integrity throughout the release of information process. Essential Job Functions: Validates and grants proxy access to MyChart following strict compliance protocols. Reviews and interprets legal documents to assign appropriate guardianship or parental rights flags. Assesses and processes incoming requests via MyChart, ensuring HIPAA-compliant authorizations and proper signatures. Analyzes court orders and determines appropriate record release actions. Identifies and retrieves required documentation from paper and electronic medical records for specialized requests. Manages billing for medical record requests and coordinate chart orders across multiple locations. Scans and indexes release of information requests for accurate tracking and audit readiness. Acts as a specialist for requests from healthcare facilities, insurance companies, attorneys, social security, schools, research organizations, social services, disability programs, workersβ compensation, audits, and personal inquiries. Provides expert-level support for compliance, privacy, and confidentiality standards in all release processes. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
