Castle Biosciences Inc. is growing, and we are looking to hire a Reimbursement, Medical Claims, Appeal Writing Specialist working remotely from your home office based in the USA, with a start date prior to August 21, 2025.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Medical Claims, Appeal Writing Specialist,
A typical day will include creating new appeal letters to dispute claim denials for Castle's portfolio of tests, editing appeal letters written by others, and maintaining the library of documents used in appeals. This role will primarily focus on writing and drafting new letters and utilizing existing templates-while also reviewing and synthesizing medical records in relation to coverage guidelines, such as medical policies and local coverage determinations (LCDs). Additional responsibilities include identifying key issues in denial letters and crafting responsive, persuasive arguments. Occasionally, the role may involve assisting in federal administrative law hearings by providing support or preparing necessary filings.
The ideal candidate for this role must provide a writing sample demonstrating their ability to persuasively write a medical appeal letter, either by uploading it or including it directly in the application. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to type an average of 35 words per minute with at least 90% accuracy. The typing test will be emailed to the applicant after they pass the first phase of the application process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum Requirements
• Paralegal, B.S./ B.A. or R.N.
• Minimum of two years' experience in healthcare insurance appeals to content development and/or health insurance litigation.
• Experience working with internal management stakeholders as well as external entities such as counsel, administrative staff, judges, and insurance companies.
• Experience navigating government and/or private payor health insurance appeal processes.
• Typing speed of 35 or more words per minute, with 90% or greater accuracy.
