About the position
The Registered Nurse Specialist position at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities is a part-time role focused on providing professional nursing care to residents at Sunland Center. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of residents, performing direct nursing care functions, and managing medical emergencies. This role requires adherence to nursing standards and agency protocols while contributing to a positive workplace culture and community impact.
Responsibilities
? Perform direct nursing care functions as ordered/prescribed and in compliance with applicable policies.

? Serve as charge person in management for medical/psychiatric emergencies pending the arrival of the attending physician/EMS.
,
? Assess and document resident complaints and changes in condition, ensuring appropriate referrals to providers.
,
? Complete nursing portion of incident reports and document administration of medications and treatments accurately.
,
? Observe for effectiveness and adverse reactions of medications, reporting variances and ensuring follow-up evaluation.
,
? Participate in audit/survey processes and ensure continuity of resident care through effective communication at shift changes.
,
? Maintain the security, safety, and health of residents in accordance with APD/Unit protocols.
,
? Provide in-service training to staff in areas of identified risk for individual residents.
,
? Ensure medical areas are kept neat, clean, and orderly, checking medical supplies for expiration weekly.
Requirements
? Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.

? Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.

? Ability to provide emergency nursing services and participate in treatment planning.
,
? Ability to conduct individual and group therapy sessions and work with patients with various physical or emotional problems.

? Ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships.

? Experience in a psychiatric or rehabilitation nursing environment.

? Certification in CPR and First Aid.
