About the Company:

Our client is a growing property management company managing over 600 units, with a goal to scale to 2,000 units within five years. The team prides itself on collaboration, adaptability, and delivering exceptional service to property owners and tenants alike.

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a solution-oriented, detail-driven Property Management Accountant to join their team and lead the accounting and financial operations of their growing property management company. With over 600 doors under management and a collaborative team of six full-time staff (4 US based & 2 Remote Team Members), they are committed to delivering exceptional service to their clients. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role offers the opportunity to grow alongside the company as they aim to manage 2,000 doors within the next five years!

Responsibilities:

General Bookkeeping & Financial Management:
• Manage day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and review financial statements.
• Generate General Ledger Backups

Trust Accounting:
• Handle trust accounting with precision, ensuring all expenses are properly managed and reconciled.
• Produce Monthly Trust Reconciliation Reports (MTRR).
• Ensure accounts are three-way reconciled.

Management Accounting:
• Utilize property management software (RentVine) to manage financials and tenant ledgers.
• Add, edit, or void transactions as needed.
• Respond clearly and professionally to inquiries regarding tenant ledgers and owner statements.

Clean-Up & Catch-Up Work:
• Review and maintain books, resolve past discrepancies, and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare move-out statements and final accounting to ensure tenant security deposits are calculated and returned correctly.

Bill Processing & Payments:
• Ensure all bills (utility bills, vendor invoices, etc.) are processed and paid on time. (~70 per week)
• Collaborate with the CEO on the approval process.

Financial Reporting:
• Generate and distribute monthly owner statements.
• Prepare and issue annual year-end statements and 1099s

Experience Requirements:

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably in Property Management for a company managing 300+ doors.
• Experience with Trust Accounting (preferred).
• Proficiency in Property Management Software (RentVine experience is a plus).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with team members, owners, and tenants effectively.
• Ability to work remotely and independently, maintaining accountability and meeting deadlines.
