About the position The Property Claims Examiner I position is a remote role focused on evaluating and resolving property claims for California. The role requires effective communication with insureds and their representatives to ensure customer satisfaction while managing a workload independently. The position involves maintaining documentation, reviewing claims, and making decisions regarding reserves and payments. Responsibilities • Provide complete, courteous, and timely customer service to aid in the settlement process and maintain customer satisfaction. • Maintain knowledge of current Company policy, claim developments, procedural changes, and current values. • Maintain comprehensive documentation of claim information for assigned files. • Maintain a diary of files in pending and update file information to ensure an accurate record of claims; continually review and monitor progress and expense of claims in pending. • Review claim files, set reserves, issue payments and/or recommend reserves and payments. • Document thought processes in claim system applications, customers, and external individuals or entities. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. • Minimum of 2-years of experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. • Ability to work independently with no or limited supervision over daily activities required to successfully investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property claims. • Working knowledge of established Company policies and procedures, with an emphasis in claims operations. • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively negotiate with claimants, insureds, and attorneys. • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to meet the needs of customers in difficult situations. • Working knowledge of office and business computer applications. • Ability to make quality decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment. • Ability to stay organized and work through influxes in workload.
