Position Summary:
The Transitions Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting the onboarding and disposition of properties as it relates to the Property Accounting function. The focal point for this position is to ensure proper set up for takeover properties and to wind down a property’s books through the close of the bank account upon disposition.
Responsibilities:
Set up and maintain current and accurate takeover and disposition checklists, complete assigned tasks on time, and communicate reason for any delaysAttend assigned takeover and disposition calls held by the Transition & Due Diligence TeamPrepare accurate acquisition journal entries, sale prorations, and post close true upsReconcile opening A/R, Prepaid Rent, and Security Deposit balances and resolve discrepanciesAssist with mapping of prior management and/or client GL accounts to RPM accounts for financial history uploads or custom account treesWire mortgage payments for takeover properties while actively working on setting up auto-ACH with lendersAssist with Yardi/One Site build for property takeovers and breakdown for property dispositions; ensure proper settings and security is in placePrepare monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations for assigned disposed propertiesCollaborate with the Property Accounting Team to resolve outstanding issuesEffectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the publicSolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variablesInterpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formRead, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documentsAssist with audit requests for disposed propertiesPerform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience3+ Years of Property Management ExperiencePreferred Industry Specific Software: Yardi, Entrata, and/or RealPage/OnesiteMicrosoft Office Suite, Project Management, Adobe

Physical Requirements:May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to read documents, computer screens and dataMust be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computerMay occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 poundsMust be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipmentWork Environment:This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per weekThe office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
