POSITION PURPOSE:
The Project Manager role is responsible for supporting the design, delivery, and performance of One Tree Planted’s reforestation portfolio across Latin America & the Caribbean, with a primary focus on Central America & the Caribbean. This role supports high-quality, landscape-aligned restoration by managing assigned projects across the full lifecycle from origination through implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

The Manager ensures projects are strategically aligned, operationally rigorous, and deliver measurable outcomes across biodiversity, climate, and community benefits. This includes supporting implementing partner relationships, ensuring compliance with OTP and industry standards, and delivering verified, donor-ready reporting and communications.

This position plays a critical role in contributing to One Tree Planted's regional presence across Latin America by identifying high-impact opportunities, supporting strategic partnerships, and ensuring consistent execution excellence across all projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Project Management (60%):

Manage assigned end-to-end lifecycle activities of reforestation projects, including pipeline development, project onboarding, contracting, budgeting, implementation oversight, monitoring, reporting, and project closeout.
Identify, assess, and advance strategic, landscape-aligned project opportunities that support OTP’s global strategy and regional priorities in Latin America & the Caribbean.
Conduct rigorous technical and operational review of proposed projects, including:

Evaluation of implementing partner capacity and track record
Project design, timelines, and feasibility using OTP criteria and industry standards including reforestation techniques, tree species selection, project timeline, projected impacts
Monitoring frameworks to ensure long term survival tracking, monitoring and verification.
Carbon and co-benefit potential (biodiversity, water, livelihoods)


Manage implementing partner relationships for assigned projects, including due diligence, contract development, milestone tracking, deliverables collection, and ensuring compliance with reporting standards. Escalate risks, delays or issues as needed
Support project financial management, including budget development & co-financing alignment, in order to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.
Track and manage project performance against OTP KPIs by proactively identifying risks, delays, or underperformance, and supporting corrective or adaptive management actions in partnership with leadership
Ensure timely and high-quality partner reporting, including narrative updates, geospatial data (e.g., KML, shapefiles), survival data, and photo/video documentation.
Serve as a key regional point of contact between project implementation partners and donors by supporting partnership development and contributing to donor engagement opportunities.
Conduct field visits and site verifications as needed to assess implementation quality, validate reported outcomes, and capture content for communications and donor engagement.
Prepare high-quality donor reports for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with OTP’s reporting standards.
Support the development and review of landscape-level and cross-portfolio reporting, strengthening consistency and impact storytelling across regions.


Administration (30%)

Manage administrative and compliance functions for assigned projects, including preparation and management of contracts, amendments, and partner agreements.
Review and process partner invoices and payment requests, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones and resolving discrepancies as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project data across OTP systems (Airtable, Salesforce, SmugMug) and OTP’s donor portal, ensuring integrity for internal tracking and external reporting.
Facilitate internal and external meetings, ensuring clear documentation, follow-up, and timely completion.


Donor Relations (5%)

Partner with the Development team to support stewardship of key funders, ensuring transparent, accurate, and timely communication on project progress and impact.
Provide technical expertise and project insights to support donor engagement, proposals, and customized reporting needs.
Participate in donor visits and field experiences, representing One Tree Planted professionally and sharing project updates, implementation progress , and impact insights.


Communications Support (5%)

Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to deliver consistent, high-quality project content, including milestone updates, field stories, and impact narratives.
Ensure all visual and media assets (photos, videos, drone footage) are properly captioned, organized, and uploaded to OTP platforms (e.g., SmugMug).
Contribute to donor-facing and public communications by helping translate technical project data into compelling, outcome-oriented stories that articulate ecological context and long-term impact.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: BACHELOR’S DEGREE or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in Environmental science, forestry, natural resources, international development, project management, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred, or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
RELATED EXPERIENCE:Minimum 5-7 years experience in project management or program coordination, ideally within conservation, reforestation, natured-based solutions.

Demonstrated experience supporting multi-country or global programs, including coordination across diverse geographies and time zones.
Experience working with implementing partners, NGOs, or community-based organizations, including managing relationships and supporting delivery of field-based projects
Strong understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle management, including planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and closeout.
Experience supporting Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes or similar frameworks, ensuring strong data quality and consistency.Experience preparing or supporting donor reports and donor-facing communications, translating technical outputs into clear, outcome-oriented narratives.


SKILLS:

Proven ability to coordinate across remote, distributed teams, driving coordination, follow-through, and timely delivery without direct supervisory authority.
Ability to review and synthesize technical project data, including geospatial information and impact metrics (e.g., survival rates, hectares restored, carbon and biodiversity indicators).
Proficiency with project management and data systems (e.g., Airtable, Salesforce, Excel/Sheets), including managing large datasets and maintaining data integrity across platforms.
Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) is essential; additional languages (e.g., French or Portuguese) are a plus.Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work effectively across diverse geographic and cultural contexts.
Willingness to travel (~25%)


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
COMPENSATION:The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $55,000-$65,000 USD for select markets. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, local market benchmarks, skills, experience and overall fit for the role. Annual performance increase may be available but not guaranteed.
