Orbital is currently seeking a Project Estimator Orbital is seeking a Project Estimator with 10+ years of experience to support projects within our Heavy Industrial vertical. The position requires project estimating experience in a consulting environment, and well-rounded expertise in heavy industrial retrofit engineering projects in the petrochemical, oil & gas and industrial gas industries. This is a part-time, fully remote position within the United States. The ideal candidate will be a high performing, critically thinking, analytical, and experienced self-starter with excellent leadership skills, written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Primary Responsibilities: • Interface with engineering, designers and Project Management to understand scopes of work • Perform takeoffs from engineering sketches or design drawings • Prepare total installed cost (TIC) estimates in support of FEL projects • Prepare basis of estimate documentation to include with TIC estimate and FEL turnover package • Participate in estimate review meetings with clients to discuss assumptions and estimate build ups • Mentor other estimators in the organization in the execution of TIC estimates Qualifications • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. • A minimum of 10 years estimating experience in the heavy industrial environments and marketplaces served is required. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and material take offs. • Working knowledge and expertise in Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE). • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with clients and engineering personnel are essential. • Project management experience including an understanding/use of project management and project control principles/tools is preferred.
