Project Employee, Referee Talent and Operations Support
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a global sports and media organization with a mission to inspire and connect people through basketball. The Referee Talent & Operations Support Project Employee will assist in supporting the league’s officiating pipeline, focusing on talent identification, performance development, and administrative coordination.ResponsibilitiesAssist in compiling and maintaining up-to-date evaluations, notes, and candidate profiles within the scouting and G League referee development databasesParticipate in candidate evaluation events through notetaking, logistics coordination, and information aggregationSupport the collection of performance notes and summaries for mid-season and end of season reviewsAssist with organizing and distributing vetted play clips and development materials for training sessions, presentations, and internal briefingsHelp maintain multiple operational databases that support G League and Scouting officiating programsSupport administrative workflows including apparel coordination, credentialing, vendor/payment submissions, and event preparationAssist with managing departmental call cadence, materials, and content-related logisticsCoordinate communication with internal and external partners including league staff, referee candidates, and stakeholdersContribute to department initiatives that strengthen transparency, development, and organizational consistency across the officiating programSkillsBachelor's degree requiredStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across stakeholdersStrong written communication skills, including clarity in evaluations and reportingAbility to work independently, remotely, and in coordination with cross-functional league partnersDemonstrated organizational skills with strong attention to detail, particularly in database management, event logistics, and operational efficiencyProficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project-tracking toolsAbility to travel or support remote operational needs as assignedExperience supporting operations, logistics, or administrative processes in a sports or related environmentExperience with Analytics platforms and Data insight tools is preferredPrior exposure to referee scouting or development processes is a plusFamiliarity leveraging digital review systems and tools for reports, presentations, and communicationBenefitsMedicalShort-term disabilityMental health coaching/therapySick timeCompany OverviewThe National Basketball Association (NBA) is a global sports and media organization with the mission to inspire and connect people everywhere through the power of basketball.
