Project Controls Specialist – Owner’s Rep Scheduling (Renewable Energy)

Remote Full-time
Location: Remote (U.S. Based), Memphis, Denver, and Houston preferred

Job Type: Full-Time

Industry: Renewable Energy / Construction / Project Controls

Travel: Limited, as needed

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support our Owner’s Representative services, with a primary focus on project scheduling and schedule oversight for utility-scale renewable energy projects.

This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, integrating, and managing project schedules across development and construction phases, and for independently evaluating EPC and contractor schedules to support informed Owner decision-making.

This is an Owner-side scheduling role, not a contractor scheduler position.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Controls (Owner’s Rep):
• Develop and maintain Owner Level 1 and Level 2 project schedules
• Review, validate, and integrate EPC and contractor Level 3 schedules
• Evaluate baseline schedules for logic, sequencing, durations, and contractual compliance
• Perform critical path, float, and schedule risk analysis
• Identify schedule impacts related to engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, commissioning, and energization
• Support schedule change evaluation and recovery planning

Monitoring & Reporting:
• Track progress against baseline and forecast dates
• Prepare schedule narratives, milestone reports, and executive summaries
• Support monthly Owner reporting and lender-facing schedule inputs
• Communicate schedule risks clearly and objectively to stakeholders

Coordination & Stakeholder Support:
• Participate in schedule review meetings with EPCs, developers, and project teams
• Provide independent, fact-based schedule assessments
• Support commissioning and grid interconnection sequencing outside EPC scope
• Contribute to internal scheduling standards and best practices

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in project scheduling or project controls
• Strong experience with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
• Solid understanding of:
• Critical Path Method (CPM)
• Schedule baselining and updates
• Float and logic analysis
• Milestone-driven schedules
• Experience reviewing and working with EPC contractor schedules
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
• Utility-scale wind, solar, or BESS project experience
• Owner’s Rep, developer, or lender advisory experience
• Experience supporting financing or investment decision schedules
• Familiarity with commissioning, energization, and interconnection sequencing
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently

What Sets You Apart
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical judgment
• Comfortable challenging schedules professionally and objectively
• Owner-focused mindset with a high standard of integrity
• Able to translate complex schedule data into clear insights for leadership
• Organized, disciplined, and proactive

What This Role Is / Is Not

This role is:
• Owner-side project scheduling
• Independent schedule review and integration
• Risk-focused and decision-support oriented

This role is not:
• A contractor or EPC scheduler embedded in a single project
• A field superintendent or construction management role
• A purely administrative scheduling position

Compensation & Benefits
• Competitive salary based on experience
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
• Retirement plan options
• Paid time off and holidays
• Fully remote work flexibility
• Opportunity to grow with a fast-growing Owner’s Rep and project controls practice
