With a distinguished faculty comprising more than 60 ladder rank members, it is one of the nation's top psychology departments. Its undergraduate program is the largest within the Division of Life Sciences and the UCLA College, with more than 4,700 undergraduate students enrolled across three majors: Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. The department also offers a comprehensive Ph.D. program with eight areas of study to approximately 200 enrolled graduate students.Position SummaryAs part of a dynamic, transdisciplinary UCLA Center for the Developing Adolescent (CDA), the State-Level Policy and Practice Associate will implement and oversee a comprehensive, strategic, and transdisciplinary policy network of key stakeholders and collaborators with an investment in adolescent development at the state level with a particular focus in California, Pennsylvania, and other key states as requested by funding agencies. This will include developing strategies to disseminate key components to a wide range of scientific programs for youth-focused researchers, policymakers, practitioners, advocates for youth, and associated programs. In conjunction with CDA's Policy and Practice team, the Associate will assemble and guide the inaugural convening of the Advisory Board on Policy & Practice to advise UCLA CDA on their efforts to improve adolescent health, education, and well-being through developmental science. The position is located in Los Angeles, CA, and could be considered for a hybrid schedule.Salary & Compensation*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Visit to discover benefits that start on day one, and to calculate the total compensation value with benefits.Qualifications Minimum of 5 years Experience and extensive knowledge of processes and procedures for influencing policy and practice related to youth. Proven experience influencing policy and practice related to issues of diversity and equity for children and youth and/or child and adolescent development. (Required) Ability to work well in a collaborative team and will collaborate and coordinate efforts with the Communications Team. (Required) Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening skills and political acumen to connect and create partnerships from diverse sectors for UCLA CDA's mission and goal. (Required) Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. (Required) Excellent analytical and critical thinking, project management, and problem recognition, and resolution skills. (Required) Experience collaborators, consultants, and contractors. (Required) Experience developing communication plans for academic and scientific partners. (Required) Applied understanding of science-based communication, translation, and initiatives in the policy or practice of child or adolescent development. (Required) Working knowledge of and demonstrated skill in all phases of metrics evaluation and assessment for CDA's policy related projects. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. (Required) Master's Degree in Public Policy or PhD in related developmental-science field.
