You ll work alongside experienced developers, QA analysts, and operational support staff to maintain and improve mission-critical healthcare systems.Why This Position is OpenThis role is open due to ongoing support needs for existing Medicaid IT systems, including claims adjudication and payment processing. The department is also preparing for new projects in FY26, which will require additional skilled resources.Project ScopeThe contractor will:Provide production system support (backfill for existing systems).Contribute to short-term development and enhancement projects.Collaborate closely with customers, development teams, QA, and operational staff.Daily ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with MMIS and MEDS teams to implement changes in COBOL and CA-ADS programs using IDMS network or relational databases.Read and interpret technical and design specifications.Debug, unit test, and perform integration testing for code changes.Support QA staff during user acceptance and external testing phases.Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.Participate in on-call rotation for production support.Coordinate with Clemson University staff and other contracted personnel.Required Skills (Ranked by Importance)Mainframe Development (COBOL on MVS)Job Control Language (JCL)IDMS / Network DatabasesCA-ADSPreferred Skills (Ranked by Importance)ChangeMan (Version Control)SASFile-AIDEducation RequirementsMinimum: High School Diploma or equivalentExperience: Minimum of 10 years in computer system development and modificationEmployers have access to artificial intelligence language tools (“AI”) that help generate and enhance job descriptions and AI may have been used to create this description.
