POSITION SUMMARY:
ā¢ ***This position is a full-time role combines leadership in teacher professional learning (approximately 75% of the time), with direct online teaching responsibilities (approximately 25% of the time).****
The Professional Learning Coordinator & Online Teacher is a full-time combined role dedicated to advancing instructional excellence and student success across Hudson Global Scholars' network. Approximately 75% of the role focuses on leading teacher onboarding, coaching, and professional learning initiatives, ensuring that educators are equipped with the tools, training, and support needed to thrive in diverse online learning environments. The remaining 25% of the role involves direct online teaching, allowing the manager to stay connected to classroom practice, model effective instruction, and provide high-quality learning experiences to students. This unique combination of leadership and teaching responsibilities ensures that professional learning is grounded in real-world practice and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Hudson Global Scholars.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Professional Learning Coordinator & Online Teacher (0.75 FTE):
The functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
ā¢ Contribute to short- and long-term vision for teacher onboarding, growth, and development.
ā¢ Facilitate the transition from HR onboarding to teacher training by leading new teacher onboarding orientation sessions and provide first-day teaching support and coaching.
ā¢ Deliver coaching, mentoring, and professional learning tailored to diverse contexts (e.g., faith-based, ELL, international).
ā¢ Facilitate new teacher training and ongoing professional learning aligned with partner school goals and student outcomes.
ā¢ Plan and deliver regular live webinars on best practices and current research in collaboration with the Director of Teaching & Learning.
ā¢ Observe instruction, provide feedback, and model effective teaching practices.
ā¢ Collaborate with leadership teams on academic policies, documentation, and handbooks.
ā¢ Manage professional learning communities and develop training resources (e.g., videos, guides, courses, newsletters).
ā¢ Support continuous improvement of curriculum, teacher training, and instructional resources.
ā¢ Stay current with HGS programs, products, and instructional models.
ā¢ Provide instructional support, including substitute teaching when needed.
Teaching (0.25 FTE):
ā¢ Deliver engaging asynchronous and synchronous online instruction.
ā¢ Maintain service standards through timely grading, communication, and feedback.
ā¢ Evaluate student work, assign grades, and track progress.
ā¢ Communicate with students, families, and administrators to support success.
ā¢ Monitor student performance, implement interventions, and escalate concerns.
ā¢ Participate in professional development and training.
ā¢ Uphold ethical standards and cultural awareness in all interactions.
ā¢ Contribute to special projects and represent HGS professionally.
ā¢ Support teachers in ongoing professional learning through the management of the teacher professional learning community and the planning and development of training resources such as videos, job ai
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
ā¢ Bachelor's degree
ā¢ Minimum of 2 years of online teaching experience
ā¢ Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and delivering teacher professional development, including facilitation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
ā¢ Proven success coaching teachers and creating adult learning resources (e.g., training materials, online courses, professional learning modules)
ā¢ Demonstrated ability to analyze and use data to inform instructional decisions and professional learning
ā¢ Strong knowledge of current best practices in K-12 teaching and learning
ā¢ Expertise in staff development, teacher onboarding, and adult education practices
ā¢ Exceptional organizational, communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
ā¢ Proficiency with technology tools and online learning platforms
ā¢ Flexibility to teach early morning or late evening classes to accommodate international students
Preferred Education and Experience
ā¢ Master's degree
ā¢ Valid teaching or administrative credential
ā¢ International teaching experience
