The NYS Office of General Services is seeking aProfessional Engineer 1 (Civil/Structural) to perform structural engineering duties for State facilities. The role involves preparing structural designs, managing project schedules, and overseeing consultant work while ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Responsibilities Perform structural engineering duties related to the preparation of structural steel or reinforced concrete designs for new construction of State facilities and rehabilitation/repair of State facilities Prepare structural drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other technical disciplines Actively manage the schedule of assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules Review reports, drawings, specifications, and bolthires estimates prepared by design consultants Actively oversee consultant design work for assigned projects Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project’s construction Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including reviewing the work of subordinate staff Skills A New York StateProfessional Engineer's license and current registration A qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees One year of full-time engineering experience in the analysis and design of steel framing, concrete framing, concrete foundations and seismic design Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 22 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle BenefitsThe Office of General Services (OGS) is an equal opportunity employer, and we recognize that diversity in our workforce is critical to fulfilling our mission.For a full version of OGS’s EEO/AA statement and benefits joining Team #OneOGS, please visit Employees are required to apply and obtain approval through management to telecommute according to the agency’s Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
