Production Underwriter-Environmental Division
Great American Insurance Group is a leader in the insurance industry, seeking a Production Underwriter for its Environmental Division. The role involves risk selection, pricing, and maintaining customer relationships while ensuring profitability and compliance with company guidelines.ResponsibilitiesHas responsibility for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives for renewal and new business opportunitiesUses independent judgment and initiative to support business goalsMaintains a high level of customer serviceAnalyzes coverage and limit requests and decides what terms to offerPrices business in accordance with company guidelinesAssesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actionsReviews submission documents including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and other environmental reports, consults online resources and liaises with in-house risk control and other colleagues to support underwriting decisionsWorks with legal department to manuscript policy languageNegotiates with brokers on pricing and coverageDevelops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable businessVisits agents, brokers, and producers nationwide in order to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships, and develop new relationships in support of divisional objectivesInterprets, explains, and markets products and servicesDevelops creative solutions for new opportunitiesAttends and participates in Division events, broker appreciation events, industry conferencesApplies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulationsActively participates in daily collaboration meetings, shares knowledge and experience with others and provides guidance and assistance to lower level associatesPerforms other duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's Degree in Environmental, Business or other related disciplineGenerally, 1-3 years of related environmental underwriting experienceOpen to candidates with an environmental consulting or other environmentally-focused backgroundsWillingness to travel nationally for work-related events and marketing (15-20%)The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player, able to multi-task in a fast paced environment and remain detail-orientedPreference for candidates located near our offices in Boston, New York, Exton and Cincinnati (this is a hybrid role)BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision coverageWellness plansParental leaveAdoption assistanceTuition reimbursementPaid Time OffPaid holidaysA 401(k) plan with company matchAn employee stock purchase planCommuter benefitsCompany OverviewGreat American Insurance Group is an insurance company that specializes in in property and casualty insurance.
