Production Brewer

Brewing coffee is vital to what we do here at Blue Bottle Coffee, whether it be distinctly delicious cans of Cold Brew or our delicious, Nola cartons. Our Production Brewer will execute our brewing process from roasted beans to the final product, working with our Brewery Team Lead, Brewery Leader, QC, and Production teams to not just maintain but elevate our quality standards.This is a full-time, hourly position requiring an onsite presence at our Gilman production facility. You will be a critical member of the production department, a team united by the basic love of producing great coffee.Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm You will: Work with our Brewery Team Lead in all brewing aspects: set-up, filtration, and packaging. This includes weighing, grinding, and mashing coffee in batches; pulling brew samples and quality control; supporting our canning runs, and more.Create and manage extensive and scrupulous notes detailing accurate batch history and coffee metrics using Google Sheets or other available online record-keeping toolsMaintain our plumbing, canning, and brewing equipment, ensuring it’s in top form for all brewing needs, using and handling cleaning chemicals with the use of Personal Protection EquipmentOperate heavy machinery including electric power jacks and forkliftsParticipate in QC tastings and cuppings to develop and strengthen your palateWork production shifts regularly so that you engage in each step of the process and understand brewing procedures holisticallyKeep all work areas clean, organized, and functional for you and your teamComply and work within all Food Safety and Good Manufacturing PracticesTrain and mentor Apprentice Brewers and Production Team MembersFollow and support all Food Safety, Quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices rules and regulations You are: Passionate about coffee, your work, your teamA perceptive multi-tasker, working with a sense of urgency and purpose to accomplish tasks efficiently and wellA collaborator at your core, you are a team player and flexible to changes as production demands shiftA curious troubleshooter, always looking to find a better solutionEmpathetic and hospitable, always eager to listen, understand, learn, and field questions for your team and partners You have: A deep love and respect for delicious coffee, food, and exceptional guest experiencesWorking knowledge of basic hardware and toolsExperience working in a fast paced environment (ideally in production)Basic math and writing skillsThe ability to read and speak English proficientlyA minimum of one year of beverage brewing experience in a full production settingFamiliarity with Microsoft and Google software suites Physical Requirements: The ability to stand, walk, sit for long periods of time (at least 8 hours per day and 5 days per week)The use of hands to handle or feel and the ability to reach with hands and armsThe ability to stoop, kneel, or crouchThe ability to squat, bend, twist, and reach for items below waist level or above shouldersThe ability to lift, push/pull, carry, and/or move up to 50 poundsThe ability to listen and speakThe ability to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and uneven floors and/or surfaces as neededThe ability to have close visual acuity to perform repetitive visual checking, counting, spotting small defects, determine the accuracy of numbers, and package A few benefits we offer: Health, dental, and vision coverage starting on your first day401(k) planPaid time offDiscounted drinks at any of our cafes and a complimentary bag of beans to take home each weekDiscounts on Blue Bottle food items and merchandise Additional Information At Blue Bottle Coffee, you’ll be a vital part of our guests’ experience and a crucial link in delivering the most delicious coffee we can find to every person who walks through our doors, be it in person or online.
