Product Designer & Research Lead - Teen Social Engagement App
Location: Remote (U.S. preferred) About Us We’re an early-stage startup on a mission to create a safe, fun, and innovative social engagement platform for teens. Our app is designed to foster authentic connections, spark creativity, and support positive online experiences. We value youth-centered design, digital well-being, and cutting-edge social product innovation. The Role We’re looking for a Product Designer & Research Lead who can combine UI/UX expertise, product development experience, and a strong understanding of teen engagement trends. You’ll lead the end-to-end product experience—from running user research and testing with teens, to designing intuitive, age-appropriate interfaces, to collaborating with engineering on feature development. Your work will ensure the product not only looks great but also delivers safe, meaningful, and engaging experiences for our teenage users. Key Responsibilities User Research & Testing - Conduct research with teen users (surveys, interviews, usability testing) to understand behaviours, motivations, and challenges. - Turn insights into actionable product features and design improvements. Product & UI/UX Design - Design and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and final UI for mobile and web. - Ensure accessibility, usability, and age-appropriate engagement features. Product Development Collaboration - Work closely with engineering to bring features from concept to launch. - Define and track metrics for engagement, retention, and satisfaction. Youth-Centred Innovation - Stay ahead of Gen Z and Gen Alpha digital trends, social apps, and gamification. - Recommend features that enhance safety, creativity, and community. What We’re Looking For - 3+ years in UI/UX design with a strong portfolio of mobile or social products. - Experience conducting research with youth audiences. - Proven success taking products from ideation to launch. - Strong skills in Figma, Sketch, or similar tools, plus prototyping platforms. - Familiarity with digital well-being, online safety, or youth design principles is a plus. - Passion for creating positive, inclusive, and safe social experiences for teens.
