As a Product Design Engineer, you'll collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. About the Role Product Design Engineer - Data Center Engineering We're looking for an experienced Product Design Engineer to join our Data Center Engineering team, where you'll be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge data center infrastructure. You'll work on new product design and development projects, collaborating with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input. Your goal will be to create designs that meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment. Key Responsibilities Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop cutting-edge concepts into new products. Work on new product design and development projects and collaborate with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input. Collaborate with other disciplines such as Data Center engineering, reliability, QA/QC, and compliance teams to create well-thought-out products. Create designs that meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment. Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries. Review and approval of product design and drawings, including mechanical parts, assembly, construction, and electrical drawings. Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during manufacturing phases. Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products. Ability to provide support for manufacturing activities for new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations. Support Operations, including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review. Be a leader within the product development team as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center. Requirements and Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering. 4+ years of experience with new product design, development, product certification, and support manufacturing of power distribution equipment. New product design experience with low voltage (LV) distribution products, with a focus on switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and ability to interpret electric code NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, UL1066, UL1558, IEEE/ANSI C37. Experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and quality control of products such as switchgear, panel boards, and power distribution units. Knowledge of typical data center designs/architectures and following industry design trends.
