Procurement Specialist, Solar Equipment

The Procurement Specialist leads vendor-specific purchasing strategies that support revenue goals and solar distribution model. This role aligns sales demand, vendor supply capabilities, and our go-to-market product strategy to ensure the right solar products are available at the right time.

You will be the primary point of contact with vendors, oversee purchase planning, PO creation and maintenance, delivery coordination, and escalation management.

The role manages the full procurement lifecycle—from forecasting and order placement through final receipt—while partnering closely with Sales, Branch Management, Warehousing & Logistics, Product Strategy, and Business Operations to maintain healthy inventory levels and ensure smooth procurement operations. This position reports to the Director of Procurement.

Essential responsibilities:
• Review and integrate demand plans from Sales and regional teams into vendor-specific purchasing plans for each item and stocking location.
• Reconcile purchasing plans with product strategy and vendor fulfillment timelines and allocation constraints.
• Monitor current inventory and open purchase orders to ensure that sales targets, and revenue goals are supported by appropriate inventory levels and inventory expenses are aligned with operating capital budgets.
• Ensure execution of purchasing plans by reviewing, confirming, and getting regular updates from vendors regarding status of allocated production capacities and open orders.
• Coordinate the evaluation of spot-buy opportunities with Sales, Product Strategy, and Branch Management teams.
• Lead regular meetings with vendors to review open orders, changes in product availability, updates to expected fulfillment timelines, and review/resolve any issues or bottlenecks.
• Secure vendor production allocation within delivery timelines that match required demand and go-to-market strategy.
• Onboard new vendors and items by creating initial supply plans; establish and strengthen relationships with vendors representatives.
• Participate in monthly and quarterly business reviews with each vendor.
• Rebalance existing inventory through transfer of items to best align location-specific inventory levels with dynamic demand plans.
• Align customer demand signals with inventory and purchasing plans.
• Participate in the improvement, standardizations, and enhancement of procurement related processes, policies, and processes, data systems, and workflows.
• Serve as a resource for vendors, product category, item, and procurement expertise to colleagues.
• Cross-functional collaboration, keeping stakeholder informed on vendor and item-specific developments including updates to product roadmaps, product availability, pricing, lead times, logistics constraints, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of experience in procurement and inventory management.
• Proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and related software.
• Able to build productive relationships at all levels of the organization and external partners.
• Exceptional presentation and written communication skills.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic professional environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated strong performance in analytical, innovative, and critical thinking, strategy, and collaboration.
• Solar industry experience.
