Overview

Lifeway is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer. The Principal Software Development Engineer (Pr. SDE) works across diverse teams and is responsible for providing direction on how best to develop and integrate applications and services for Lifeway. Lifeway, with its diverse technology footprint, requires someone who can acknowledge and embrace the varying needs of different systems and stakeholders, balancing back-office requirements of reliability and consistency with customer-oriented requirements that demand agility and responsiveness. As such they are experienced in being able to define boundaries of responsibility and ownership of the different capabilities required by the business and are knowledgeable with current industry best practices for integrating them. They plan a key role to help both the business and technical teams to think strategically about system responsibility. As a technical leader, the Pr. SDE works closely with the development community to lead and review high level architecture, cloud-native proposals, and SaaS applications including integrations. The Pr. SDE is committed to maintaining high standards for the quality and efficiency of work.

Responsibilities
• Lives out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
• Lead, collaborate, and coordinate with developers, managers, and analysts across teams to design and architect integrations to support the flow of data between systems such as CRM, ERP, HR, WMS, eCommerce, and custom applications.
• Provide architecture, security, and technical guidance to development teams on new architectural approaches relevant to SaaS software and other systems across the organization. Includes researching new approaches and developing proofs of concepts.
• Collaborate with other Principle Software Development Engineers representing the intricacies of corporate solutions such as ERP (Financials, Order Management, Supply Chain), WMS, TMS, PeopleSoft, etc.
• Analyze and improve existing system architectures, integrations, and migration techniques leveraging cloud technologies to improve speed to delivery for the business.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Information Security, Business Intelligence, and more.
• Participate in SaaS software and implementation partner evaluations to provide technical oversight and recommendations.
• Hands-on development of cloud applications.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field- required

Masters degree in computer science, information technology or related field-preferred

Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.)- not required

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required
• 10+ years development and maintenance roles with an IT organization
• Knowledge of integrating with SaaS cloud applications, such as Salesforce, ERP, WMS, and more
• CI/CD, security best practices, DevOps principles and practices, logging, monitoring, and alerting within a cloud environment
• Cloud application architecture
• Software design and architecture, including Domain Driven Design and Eventing
• Programming skills
• Problem solving skills
• Analytical skills
• Leadership skills
• Written and verbal communication
• Ability to collaborate and interact with employees at a technical and non-technical level

Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, preferred
• Experience leading or working closely with software engineering teams
• Domain Driven Design, Event Driven Design, and other architecture and software patterns
• API Gateway, Kubernetes, SQS, SNS, S3, Cloudfront, EC2, VPC, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, IAM Roles, Kafka events or similar
• C#, .NET 8+, Java, and other integration programming languages
• Minimal APIs, Web API, RESTful APIs, Microservices
• No SQL Databases (i.e. MongoDB, DynamoDB), Relational Databases
• GitHub
• Agile (Scrum)
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications
• Experience integrating with Salesforce, Oracle Fusion, People Soft, and other Saas solutions is a plus.
• Experience with Human Capital Management (HCM), Warehouse, Transportation Management applications is a plus
