Principal Engineer I - Cloud Networking

As a Principal Engineer in the Technology Operations team, you will use your experience to lead solution design, planning, development, implementation, and execution of innovative platform solutions. You'll be dedicated to providing the best customer experience by harnessing cutting-edge data technologies that power our network. Responsibilities • Partner with Network, Security+, and Storage peers to design highly secure and available public cloud solutions. • Design advanced/complex processes for running the network infrastructure. • Automate defined processes to eliminate human error and increase availability and standards. • Define secure connectivity paths between AWS and Secure DCs to enable hybrid services. • Lead the development and implementation of Network Cloud code and repository leveraging Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, python and Lambda functions. • Work closely with the cloud transformation team to standardize cloud repositories and integrate pipelines into network Terraform modules. • Design, Organize and Maintain Cloud Network patterns, standards, and documentation. • Engage with Network Architects/Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Enterprise Architecture and Software Development teams on future roadmaps and patterns for cloud deployments. • Maintain strong hands-on network technology skills in cloud routing, WAN and security Internet edge architectures. • Mentor and train network Ops/Eng members, DevOps and application development teams in deploying network infrastructure using Network Cloud code. • Responsible for network cloud escalations. • Participate with EA teams, Network Teams, Cloud Team and Application Development teams to extract cloud deployment patterns to roadmap. • Contribute to the cloud CoE and be a representative of Network concepts in cloud. • Align with Sr Managers and Principal Network Architects on future state reference architectures to determine Network Cloud Roadmaps. Requirements • Minimum five (5) years of Engineering work experience. • Minimum five (5) years of AWS Networking experience. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent work experience. • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, concepts and Services (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, OSI network layers, DNS, DHCP). • Expertise with tools like Jira, AWS and Splunk. • Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills. • Experience in designing solutions that improve operational and situational awareness (dashboards, websites, data processing, translations, user interfaces, big data). • Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols. • Ability to multi-task and quickly pivot to changing priorities and tight deadlines. • Ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action with sustainable solutions. • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and is accountable to the tasks assigned. • Proven ability to digest complex asks and provide technical and software solutions to measure and report on real-time issues and performance analysis. • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. • Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly. Nice-to-haves • Knowledge of company products and services. • Networking specific certifications (AWS Networking Specialty). • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE). • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.).
