About the Role: Shaping the Future of Cybersecurity at United Airlines The Principal Architect - Infrastructure Cybersecurity will play a pivotal role in maturing our infrastructure security capabilities, working closely with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and implement full-stack security architecture. This role requires a seasoned expert with a deep understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices, as well as the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Driving Cybersecurity Excellence Conduct threat modeling, end-to-end security evaluations, and design/development of infrastructure and cloud security policies, standards, and procedures. Demonstrate expertise in two or more domains, including security, resiliency, infrastructure, platform, product, endpoint, application, identity management, and data security, with a focus on zero-trust architectures. Partner with team members to understand business requirements and develop supporting security and resiliency principles, ensuring adoption of industry and enterprise standard processes. Develop and promote security and resiliency architecture strategies, frameworks, and patterns, collaborating with other cybersecurity teams and partner organizations. Identify cybersecurity issues, strengths, and weaknesses across various domains and partner organizations, providing solutions to mitigate risks. Assist in defining and implementing Security Standards/frameworks, training, and coaching development and engineering teams on cybersecurity best practices. Participate in and drive security advisory boards and committees, providing security architecture review and process ownership for new and existing solutions. Champion secure infrastructure-as-code for end-to-end configuration and overall success of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments. Plan, design, build, and test approaches and solutions tied to business outcomes and our cybersecurity strategy and vision. Ensure programs meet intended purpose and metrics, driving continuous improvement. Qualifications: What We're Looking For To succeed in this role, you'll need: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 7+ years of technical experience, with recent emphasis on security and architecture. Expert-level knowledge of network security principles and technologies, including network architecture, segmentation, and access control strategies. Expertise in developing and maintaining cybersecurity standards, mapping and tailoring controls, and overseeing security metrics. Proficient knowledge of secure connectivity methods, cloud interconnectivity methods, and zero-trust network architectures. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, interpersonal, collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and self-motivate. Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a relevant field. CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, AWS Solution Architect Associate, Networking, and Security Specializations, CISSP, ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSMP, CISM, CRISC, CEH, or GIAC Family certifications. 8+ years of technical experience, with 5 years directly related to security and architecture. Understanding of core identity concepts, including SAML, SCIM, IDP, OIDC, and related integrations. Experience and expertise in securing wireless and cellular networks, campus networking infrastructures, and satellite communication technologies. Expert knowledge of information security techniques and tools, secure configuration practices, and endpoint security technologies. Proficient knowledge of cloud infrastructure services, compliance frameworks, and security policy and standards development.
