Postdoctoral Fellow - Applied & Computational Scientists
SRI International is seeking multiple Postdoctoral Fellows - Applied and Computational Scientists to conduct research and development in the areas of mathematics of generative AI models, reinforcement learning, and algorithm design. The role involves developing research ideas, collaborating with project Principal Investigators, and implementing new algorithms for various applications.ResponsibilitiesDevelop research ideas, lead the experimental evaluation of these ideas, present work to government and commercial clientsCollaborate with project Principal Investigators (PIs) and their staff in academia, Industrial and National LabsDocument research in technical reports and research papersDevelop and implement new algorithms and benchmark against state-of-the-art approachesSome travel will be required to project meetings, and conference venuesSkillsPh.D. in Applied Mathematics, Physics or Engineering with a focus on computational sciences, Computer Science or related areaDemonstrated publication recordMust have U.S. Citizenship or Perm ResidencyExpertise in algorithm development associated with the following: artificial intelligence, algorithm design, scalable computational methods and their implementationsDemonstrated experience implementing novel algorithms in one or more programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and libraries associated with training of AI modelsExcellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills requiredAbility to start June, July or August 2026BenefitsSRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance programAnnual Performance Based Compensation programCompetitive benefits packageCompany OverviewAn independent non-profit institute headquartered in Silicon Valley, SRI is a global leader in research and development.
