Platform/Infrastructure Architect
What You Can Expect In This Role
We are seeking a Platform/Infrastructure Architect to own and evolve Sammons Financial Group’s cloud-based data platform—anchored in Snowflake and complemented by modern data services (Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, ETC).
What You'll Do In This Role
You’ll define and steward the end-to-end platform architecture across compute, storage, networking, and security, ensuring scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and secure operations in multi-cloud or hybrid environments. You’ll provide technical and architectural leadership on large, complex, and cross-domain initiatives, setting patterns that are adopted across teams.
Technical Skills
Required Skills & Experience
• Cloud & Data Platforms: Deep experience with Snowflake (warehouses, resource monitors, RBAC, data sharing), plus familiarity with services like azure SQL; strong grasp of object storage (S3/ADLS/GCS) and networking in AWS/Azure/GCP.
• IaC & Automation: Terraform, modular design, environment promotion; CI/CD (Azure DevOps) for infra and data pipelines.
• Performance & Reliability: Workload management, multi-cluster design, caching, pruning/partitioning, micro-batch vs. streaming trade-offs; DR/BCP patterns.
• Observability: Platform-level monitoring, logging, tracing, usage and cost telemetry; alerting and SLOs.
• Security: Encryption at rest/in transit, tokenization, network policies, private endpoints, secrets management, SSO/MFA/SCIM, auditability.
• Data Engineering Adjacent: Familiarity with CDC (e.g., Confluent/Kafka), orchestration (Airflow/Azure Data Factory), and schema evolution/versioning.
Domain & Industry
• Insurance (preferably life & annuity) background is a plus, including understanding of producer/agent models and regulatory considerations.
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10-12+ years in IT architecture/engineering with significant ownership of cloud data platforms.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive architectural decisions in a matrixed environment.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Salary Range Information
USD $101,857.00 - USD $212,203.00 /Yr. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range specific to your labor market, please inquire.
