Job description: Position SummaryIncumbents of positions in this series prepare or review plans, designs, specifications and cost estimates for engineering projects; prepare and/or review reports, studies and analytical data; perform calculations relating to engineering problems; perform engineering surveys; inspect construction and/or maintenance work; and perform professional engineering duties in such areas as highways, bridges, buildings and facilities all in accordance with sound engineering principles, applicable laws, regulations and standards. Coordinate, supervise, and review the activities of LPA/Compliance Plan Review Engineers as directed by Compliance Administrator.
Ensure efficiency and consistency of ROW Plan Review process and work product.
Ensure compliance with established Federal and State laws and regulations and Department standards.
Provide training to staff on department standards, procedures, and processes.
Use engineering and land surveying education and skills to support Community Compliance Officers as they work with various stakeholders in the Right of Way Plan preparation development process.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principle/practices of supervision; ensures effective operations and compliance with established standards, rules, and regulations.
Work with the Community Compliance Administrator, and through the Community Compliance Administrator, with the State Right of Way Civil Engineering to provide comments and updates to the Plan Preparation Guidelines for Consultants Preparing Right of Way Plans.
Use Bluebeam to perform plan reviews and the SharePoint Tracker to complete assignments in a timely manner.
Regularly update, and work with, the Community Compliance Administrator regarding plan review and potential problems/issues relative to any given project.
Represents the Community Compliance Administrator when directed by the Community Compliance Administrator.
Delivers ROW Plan Review comments to the Community Compliance Officers.
Responds to questions and requests for information from consultants, Community Compliance officers, and municipalities, referring questions and requests to the Community Compliance Administrator, as needed.
This position is eligible for a five-thousand dollar ($5,000) signing bonus (âSigning Bonusâ) if you are newly hired at MassDOT. Current MassDOT employees are not eligible for the Signing Bonus.
