PHP/MySQL Web Developers (Mid-Level & Entry-Level)

EmpowerDB is a web-based database used primarily by domestic violence and sexual assault service providers to collect, manage, analyze, and report information about the work they do. Each organization that uses EmpowerDB has a system customized to meet their specific needs. In addition to being a user-friendly, secure, and versatile database, what makes EmpowerDB stand out is the highly personalized and comprehensive support each customer is provided. EmpowerDB is hiring two web developers: one mid-level developer and one entry-level (or even "apprentice") developer. Our system runs on PHP (no framework), MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery. Mid-Level Developer – Responsibilities • Add custom functionality to meet unique customer requests. This work frequently involves designing clever solutions that fit within the system’s current allowances. • Migrate data between sources using SQL queries or PHP scripts for smaller jobs. Larger migration projects are handled through our custom-built tool. • Debug and resolve system errors • Build reporting pages in PHP or with our proprietary reporting platform • Be kind to the entry-level developer Entry-Level / Apprentice Developer – Responsibilities • Provide support to ongoing customers, either directly or by triaging requests to the right team member • Gain exposure to the system’s codebase through daily customer support interactions • Gradually grow into writing code for the platform Requirements • Mid-level: Prior web development experience with PHP/MySQL/HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery. This role requires working within an established system and codebase. We value developers who can adapt and build solutions within our framework. • Entry-level/Apprentice: No past web development experience required, but must demonstrate strong comfort with technology, a proven ability to excel in a complementary skill area, and excellent communication skills Compensation • Mid-Level Developer: $100,000 USD per year • Entry-Level / Apprentice Developer: $50,000 USD per year • Final salary offer may be lower depending on your location, experience, and market conditions. • Compensation is offered as full-time independent contracting (no benefits).
