Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorizations

Job Description We are seeking dedicated Pharmacy Technicians to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in reviewing Prior Authorizations for coverage determination. You will be responsible for approving or denying requests and sending them to a Pharmacist for final review. This role involves handling all health plans and types of medications, with minimal phone work, primarily outbound calls. Responsibilities • Track coverage determination requests. • Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers. • Approve or deny requests based on criteria and enter decisions into the PBM system. • Notify providers and members of decision outcomes. • Respond to client inquiries and refer requests for specialty drugs. • Contact providers for additional information as needed. • Assist with inbound and/or outbound patient or physician calls if required. Essential Skills • High School diploma or GED. • Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by the state of operation. • Strong computer skills. • Experience with Prior Authorization processes. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook. • Data entry skills. • Customer service experience. • Registered Pharmacy Technician status. • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification. • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance-related processes. Qualifications • National Health career Association (NHA) certification. • Experience in retail pharmacy, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings. • Experience in a call center environment. • Experience with Prescription Benefit Management (PBM). Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
