About the position
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for providing empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients, ensuring the effective use of medications, and managing pharmacy operations. This role includes overseeing pharmacy workflow, enhancing patient experience, managing staff performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. The Pharmacy Manager also plays a key role in community engagement and the professional development of pharmacy staff.
Responsibilities
Ā Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.

Ā Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.

Ā Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
,
Ā Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.

Ā Participate in events that reflect the unique communities served.

Ā Counsel patients regarding usage of medicine, side effects, and interactions.
,
Ā Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
,
Ā Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.

Ā Collaborate with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities.
,
Ā Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and support staff and patients with information technology.
,
Ā Ensure insurance claims are processed accurately and resolve patient issues with insurance companies.
,
Ā Follow up with medical providers to clarify prescribed medications and answer questions.
,
Ā Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
,
Ā Manage the maintenance and improvement of the pharmacy department.
,
Ā Prepare and submit all required records and documentation for pharmacy operations.
,
Ā Collaborate with Store Manager on pharmacy staff hiring and performance management.
,
Ā Monitor and recognize improvements in pharmacy staff and implement rewards programs.
,
Ā Maintain required licensing and enhance knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare.
,
Ā Support the Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services to pharmacy staff.
,
Ā Analyze performance data including pharmacy financials and customer service.
Requirements
Ā BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited educational institution.
,
Ā Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
,
Ā Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
,
Ā At least 1 year pharmacy experience including prescription filling and pharmacy operations.
,
Ā Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
,
Ā An average rating of at least 3.0 on leadership behaviors on the last performance review (internal candidates only).
Nice-to-haves
Ā Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff.

Ā At least 6 months pharmacy experience with Walgreen Co.
,
