Position Overview: Pharmacy Customer Service Associate

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you'll be the friendly face that greets our patients and customers every day. This role is perfect for someone who loves interacting with people, has strong communication skills, and takes pride in providing exceptional service. You'll be responsible for creating positive customer experiences, supporting pharmacy operations, and helping patients manage their health needs.

While the position is based in our retail pharmacy location in Illinois, it's important to note that this is an on-site role rather than a remote position. Our pharmacy team works together in a collaborative environment to ensure seamless operations and outstanding patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities as a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate will be diverse and engaging. Here's what you can expect:

Customer Experience & Service

Greet and engage customers warmly, offering assistance with products, services, and health-related inquiries
Resolve customer issues and answer questions promptly and professionally to ensure a positive shopping experience
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including friendly greetings, eye contact, and courteous behavior
Follow arenaflex service values: proactively offer help, identify needs, and follow up until customers are satisfied
Recommend items to customers and suggest complementary products to enhance their shopping experience


Point of Sale Operations

Process customer purchases accurately using the assigned sales register
Collect payments and provide correct change efficiently
Handle voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges as needed
Assist customers in locating products throughout the store, particularly in the over-the-counter (OTC) aisle
Maintain clean, well-organized counters and displays


Pharmacy Support

Support the pharmacist in accordance with state and federal guidelines
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and medication information and process prescriptions
Assist with entering patient and medication data accurately into the pharmacy system
Help fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medication drugs
Verify medication accuracy and check for potential drug interactions
Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining pharmacy workflow
Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately and adhere to organization policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program
Handle phone calls that don't require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians
Process manual claims for third-party prescription services efficiently


Inventory & Merchandising

Perform inventory counts as required by management
Check in and price stock as directed
Support pharmacy division inventory management activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing medication shipments
Maintain knowledge of organization asset security procedures and report warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods
Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding controlled substances (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products)
Build and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super window, and sale stock
Complete resets and corrections as directed
Assist with grocery division tasks, including product positioning and stock rotation using FIFO (first in, first out) methods


Additional Responsibilities

Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and equipment
Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, banner printing, and creative machine operations
Handle web order fulfillment, including monitoring orders in Picture Care, picking items, and delivering orders to customers
Assist with internal and external maintenance to ensure a clean, tidy, and organized store appearance
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required
Language Skills: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours
Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications

Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience with arenaflex or similar pharmacy settings
Strong mathematical skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
Proficient computer skills
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
Pharmacy Certification: PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification is highly preferred
