Position Overview

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences while supporting our pharmacy operations. This position requires a unique blend of interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction. You will be the friendly face that greets customers, the efficient register operator who processes transactions accurately, and the supportive team member who assists our pharmacists in delivering top-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience Excellence

Greet and engage customers warmly, offering prompt and courteous assistance with products and services
Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries professionally to ensure a positive shopping experience
Model exceptional customer service best practices, including friendly greetings, eye contact, and genuine helpfulness
Recommend items to customers and suggest complementary products to enhance their purchase
Settle client concerns and complaints with patience and efficiency, ensuring customer satisfaction


Point of Sale Operations

Process customer purchases accurately on the designated sales register
Collect payments and provide correct change efficiently
Handle voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges as needed
Guide customers to appropriate store sections, particularly the Over-The-Counter (OTC) walkway, to assist with product location
Maintain clean, well-organized counters and retail displays


Pharmacy Support Functions

Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and medication information accurately
Process prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical medications
Verify medication accuracy and check for potential drug interactions
Support pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining pharmacy workflow
Report prescription errors immediately to the on-duty pharmacist and follow company policies regarding pharmacy errors and Quality Improvement Programs
Adhere to the company's Good Faith Dispensing policies during all prescription dispensing activities
Handle calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including physician inquiries
Process manual claims for third-party prescription program services efficiently


Inventory Management

Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate records as directed
Check in and price stock as required or as instructed by management
Support pharmacy division inventory management activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing medication shipments
Maintain knowledge of company asset security procedures
Report warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription medications
Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding controlled substances


Store Operations and Merchandising

Build and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise
Complete resets and corrections as directed
Assist with food item division and product positioning according to company procedures
Support inventory rotation using the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) method
Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and equipment


Additional Services

Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, banner printing, and creative machine operations
Handle online pickup responsibilities, including monitoring orders in Picture Care Plus, picking items, and delivering orders to customers as they arrive
Assist with internal and external maintenance to ensure a clean, tidy, and professional store appearance
Complete special projects and other assigned tasks as directed


Training and Self-Development

Acquire and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification

Stay informed about the latest news and developments in the healthcare industry


Essential Qualifications


Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours
Education: Bachelor Degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and team members
Attention to Detail: Strong ability to process information accurately and maintain precision in all tasks
Customer Focus: Genuine desire to help others and provide exceptional service


Preferred Qualifications


Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
Strong mathematical skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
PTCB certification or willingness to obtain certification
Understanding of state and federal pharmacy regulations
