Position: Building Code & Permitting Specialist
Type: Contract
Compensation: $65ā$90/hour
Location: Remote
Role Responsibilities
ā¢ Review and label construction documents, permit applications, site plans, and inspection reports. Ensure accurate annotation of code requirements, jurisdictional rules, and compliance elements.
ā¢ Audit annotated datasets for accuracy and alignment with local, state, and national building codes. Evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness in permit requirements, zoning constraints, and code compliance.
ā¢ Define annotation guidelines for interpreting building codes and jurisdictional differences. Provide expertise on edge cases such as mixed-use zoning, variances, and complex permitting scenarios.
ā¢ Review AI-generated permit reviews, compliance summaries, and recommendations. Provide structured feedback to improve regulatory reasoning and accuracy across jurisdictions.
ā¢ Contribute to standards for construction permitting annotation and onboarding materials.
Qualifications
Must-Have
ā¢ Strong familiarity with building codes, permitting workflows, and jurisdictional requirements.
ā¢ Experience as Permit Expeditors coordinating with city agencies, submitting permits, and managing inspection processes.
ā¢ Architects with strong knowledge of building codes, design compliance, and plan preparation.
ā¢ Government Reviewers / Plan Examiners with experience reviewing and approving permits within municipal or state agencies.
ā¢ Deep expertise in one of the following jurisdictions: California, Texas, Florida.
