With over 700 branches across the U.S. and Canada, we offer a comprehensive selection of products including: irrigation supplies, fertilizer and control products, nursery goods, hardscapes, landscape lighting, drainage and erosion control products, tools, and other landscaping accessories and supplies.Position OverviewThe Payroll lead , leads a team of payroll specialists in managing day-to-day payroll operations for multi-state payroll in the US, ensuring timely and accurate processing while to maintaining compliance with government regulations.Duties/Responsibilities:• Oversees payroll procedures, day-to-day processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of US payroll.• Manage responsibilities, provide leadership, evaluate performance of payroll specialists, and contribute to resolving errors and responding to inquiries.• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.• Ensures that the operations and deliverables of the payroll team consistently meet or exceed organizational objectives.• Maintain up to date knowledge and expertise of statutory legislation and ADP systems.• Maintains clear understanding of FLSA, Complex Tax withholding issues in IRS.• Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvement methodologies that strengthen payroll operations.• Facilitates weekly team meetings.• Oversees completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual year-end reports and checklists.• Prepare Quarterly taxes not handled by payroll processors and oversee year-end tax and W2 preparation for quarter and year-end close.• Develop Time & Attendance Payroll Operational Metrics to provide insight into the day-to-day processes and identify potential areas of opportunity.• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.• Collaborate with other departments/HR functions on key projects.• Partner with Payroll Manager on key projects and resolve issues.• Performs other duties as assigned.Skills We Are Seeking• Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Strong customer service, supervisory and leadership skills.• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.• Must have strong MS Excel- VLookups or XLookupsEducation and Experience:• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience• 5 years of demonstrated work experience in high volume payroll (4,000+ payees).• 2-3 years of leading at least 2 direct reports.• Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.• Must have experience with Payroll Platform (Workday, UKG, PayCom, etc.) requried.
