About the Role: Patient Access Representative As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the primary patient contact for registration, benefits verification, and authorization, playing a critical role in ensuring seamless patient intake and care coordination. This part-time position offers flexible evening and night shifts, allowing you to balance your work and personal life while making a meaningful contribution to our healthcare team. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary patient contact for registration, benefits verification, and authorization, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate patient information. Integrate registration, benefits verification, payer authorization, and payment arrangements to facilitate smooth patient intake and care coordination. Assess patients' financial needs, provide insurance and financial guidance, and advise on payment options and available Carilion and community assistance programs. Monitor work queues and reports to ensure accurate and timely completion of insurance, demographic, and eligibility information. Obtain patient signatures on required documents and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with patients, physicians, office staff, facilities, service lines, and external agencies to resolve issues and address concerns. Essential Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Registration and/or previous insurance experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, basic keyboarding, and PC skills. Strong organizational and professional communication skills. Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of productivity in a remote work environment. BLS certification required within the first year of employment and maintained throughout employment. PAS Medical Terminology course completion and certification required during the first year of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in patient access or a related field. Familiarity with healthcare operations and patient registration processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
