Part-Time Instructor (Online) for high school students
We are seeking a motivated and engaging instructor to mentor a high school student in a structured, online research-based learning experience. The instructor will help guide the student through the process of experimental design, data interpretation, and manuscript writing, with the ultimate goal of producing a short research-style paper or presentation.
Details:
Schedule: 1.5 hours per session, 4 times per week for 2 weeks (total: 12 hours)
Format: Live online sessions via Zoom
Rate: $75100 per hour, depending on experience
Start Date: Flexible, ideally in July and August
Responsibilities:
Design and lead an engaging mini-curriculum focused on the basics of scientific inquiry and academic writing
Introduce foundational concepts (e.g., hypothesis, experimental methods, data interpretation)
Guide the student in topic exploration and structured writing
Provide feedback on drafts and progress
Qualifications:
Experience in research and/or academic instruction (postdocs or graduate students with publications)
Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching
Experience mentoring teens or teaching at the high school or college level preferred, but not required
Ability to inspire curiosity and adapt content to the students interests and level
