Part-time Bookkeeper/Bursar
Overview
Work with a small, dedicated team at an innovative graduate school. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage our daily financial operations, reporting to the CEO/CFO. This dual-function role involves maintaining accurate financial records (Bookkeeper) and managing student accounts (Bursar). We use Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT for accounting and billing management. The job can be performed on-site, remotely, or hybrid.
Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting:
⢠General Ledger: Update and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
⢠Accounts Payable: Process invoices, manage vendor payments, and file receipts
⢠Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
⢠Financial Statements: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
⢠Tax filing: Prepare 1099 forms annually.
⢠Audit Support: Assist with annual audits by providing necessary documentation and schedules.
Bursar Duties:
⢠Tuition billing: Record tuition, fees, and scholarship awards
⢠Accounts Receivable: Receive tuition payments and federal loan disbursements
⢠Loan Refunds: Prepare amounts for loan refunds to students
Experience
⢠Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
⢠Strong experience with an ERP system and advanced proficiency in Excel.
⢠Knowledge of GAAP standards, governmental accounting practices, and technical accounting concepts
⢠Familiarity with tax regulations, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliation procedures
⢠Experience in preparing financial reports and conducting balance sheet reconciliation is highly desirable
⢠Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
⢠Specific experience with the bursar role is not required
