Job Description:
Audience Engagement is a diverse collection of essential editors, programmers and specialists that are responsible for the fan experience with editorial content and streams on most of ESPNs digital offerings. Teams program the homepage for ESPN.com and the ESPN Apps industry-leading audience, while operating nearly 24/7 including sending hundreds of editorial news alerts daily. A Watch team manages the CTV app experience, elevating the best, most urgent live events in ESPNs portfolio of rights. All are done utilizing real-time metrics and editorial judgment to elevate the most compelling and urgent content. The copy desk touches all outputs while enhancing tone, readability, and accuracy of the editorial operation. While an SEO team maximizes the reach and types of content that fans are searching for off-platform as well.
This person will be trained in sending editorial news alerts to the ESPN App and the ESPN Fantasy App. This encompasses news, live events, written stories, highlights and more. Regular decisions about which audience will receive the notification, how to tee up the content, verifying the accuracy, tone and style while maintaining our industry-best expectations for speed to fansā lock screens. They will also have shifts where they will be responsible for programming the main news lane of the ESPN App, or the various fantasy index pages that appear on both web and app. This position is in Los Angeles, CA, is part time (29 hours/week) and hours may include nights & weekends.
Responsibilities:
ā¢ Editing and maintenance for all of ESPN Mobile Apps plus notifications and News programming.
ā¢ Daily assessing of content from a variety of sources (includes wire services, partners, ESPN staffers, freelancers, plus interactive elements, social media, live events, audio, and video) to determine how it fits into our daily news coverage and programming needs.
ā¢ Evaluating all copy and headlines, provides feedback on all art and video, and works to package this content in a manner that is dynamic enough to entice users to delve deeper into the app.
ā¢ Excellent headline writing and ability to present and tell stories in a tight space.
ā¢ Showing good judgment in prioritizing all online content for a national audience.
Qualifications:
ā¢ Experience in online media content preparation.
ā¢ Ability to work in a rapidly changing online environment and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
ā¢ Background or ability to quickly become competent in HTML.
Required Education:
ā¢ High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Education:
ā¢ Bachelorās degree in communication arts, journalism or new media or equivalent combination of education experience.
Additional Information:
ā¢ Sports take place during nights, weekends and holidays, and those shifts will be regular and required.
ā¢ This job takes place in Los Angeles with 4 days/week in office and one available as Work From Home.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $42,122 to $52,635 per year based on a 29-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidateās geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
