Part-Time Accountant/Bookkeeper with NIH Grant Experience
We are seeking an experienced part-time accountant/bookkeeper with a proven track record working with NIH-funded companies. The ideal candidate will understand NIH grant compliance, federal cost principles, and both federal and California tax requirements.
Responsibilities:
ā¢ Maintain accurate bookkeeping and NIH-compliant financial reporting
ā¢ Manage timesheets, payroll allocation, and fringe benefit tracking
ā¢ Handle cost allocation, indirect cost rate application, and expense categorization
ā¢ Process PMS drawdowns and reconciliations
ā¢ Review and monitor subaward and vendor invoices
ā¢ Support FFR, RPPR, and other NIH financial report submissions
ā¢ Maintain document retention practices for audit readiness (annual audit $1M+ revenue)
ā¢ Manage federal and California tax preparation and compliance
ā¢ Provide financial forecasting and cash flow management
Qualifications:
ā¢ Direct experience with NIH-funded projects, preferably SBIR/STTR
ā¢ Strong understanding of NIH financial compliance and reporting requirements
ā¢ Familiarity with PMS, RPPR, and FFR processes
ā¢ Knowledge of federal cost principles and California state regulations
ā¢ Proficiency with accounting software (please specify in your proposal)
ā¢ Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
