Key Responsibilities:
Assist teachers with instruction and supervision of students with special needs, including one-on-one and group instruction, playground supervision, and testing and assessment support
Reinforce learning material and skills introduced by the teacher, and provide individualized support to students as needed
Supervise students outside of the classroom during lunch, playground time, or before and after school, ensuring their safety and well-being
Translate materials and information for parents, students, and staff, and assist with communication and interpretation as needed
Administer tests and assessments, grade papers, and maintain records under teacher supervision
Maintain files and computer records, and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
Associate's degree, 60 college credits, and one year of childcare work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the standards of Highly Qualified status for No Child Left Behind
Knowledge of the needs of students at different ages, educational, and developmental levels
Knowledge of district educational policies, regulations, and rules, as well as federal and state laws and regulations
Skilled in assessing students' educational needs, providing tutoring, and operating office equipment and computer hardware and software applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Bilingual preferred, and must be able to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card
