Paralegal - Litigation (Franchise)

The Paralegal – Franchise will support attorneys by preparing legal documents, compiling information, and coordinating communications among various parties involved in legal matters.ResponsibilitiesDrafts simple pleadings and/or assists attorneys with major motions and filingsPerforms cite-checking, fact-checking, and Blue Booking of legal memoranda and Shepardizing casesOrganizes all necessary documents for witness interviews, depositions, hearings, trials or arbitrationsReviews, organizes and maintains document databases for case tracking, discovery and document productionsUtilizes legal software such as Relativity and litigation technology including eDiscovery and data roomsEFiles documents in State and Federal Courts and coordinates service of documentsLocates and reviews information applicable to a particular case, person or subject via online research or document reviewsAssists in the preparation of pretrial motions, trail binders, trial exhibits, etcAssist attorneys at depositions, hearings, trials or arbitrationsManage data rooms and matter filesSkillsHigh School Diploma or GED1 year of paralegal experience for individuals with a bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificateIndividuals without a degree or certification require five years' legal support experience in the specific practice areaMust have strong skills in Word, Excel and OutlookExperience with legal software such as Relativity, LexisNexis, Westlaw or similar application requiredExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required to interact with staff, paralegals, attorneys and clients on a daily basisStrong organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle large volumes of work associates with each matterAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentEffectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third partiesProduce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive mannerProvide timely, accurate, and quality work productSuccessfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as requiredFoster positive work relationshipsComply with all firm policies and practicesEngage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as neededAbility to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environmentBachelor's Degree and/or a Paralegal certificateBenefitsMedical/dental/vision insurance401(k)Company OverviewDLA Piper is a global law firm with lawyers located in more than 40 countries to helps clients with their legal needs around the world.
