In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, assisting with classroom activities, lesson plans, and curriculum implementation. You will also participate in planning lessons, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills
Deliver Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI) and work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs
Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments
Aid in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs
Maintain accurate records of student learning and performance
Support classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure safety, and keep students on task
Construct, copy, and distribute educational materials as needed
Assist students with disabilities with activities of daily living to maximize their ability to participate in school or learning activities
Requirements:
Passing score on the ParaPro exam and/or college coursework equivalent to an Associate's degree
Prior experience working with special needs students desirable
PMT certificate
Prompt, reliable, dependable, honest, and ability to accept constructive feedback from supervisors
Good oral and written communication skills
Previous ABA experience preferred
