About the position

United Health Services is actively recruiting a Full Time Palliative Associate Medical Director of Palliative Care Services located at United Health Services Hospitals in Johnson City, New York. This position is open to both experienced professionals and new graduates. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of palliative care clinical models, including considerations of design, business modeling, productivity, quality, experience, and equity. Experience with new program development or expansion is preferred, and experience in clinical teaching is desired. The successful candidate will join an established team of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, and an Administrative Director, working in a focused and collaborative environment that emphasizes continued mentorship within the team. The role involves assisting in the growth of collaborative relationships with hospital departments to enhance and inform primary palliative care delivery. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. Key responsibilities include growing the outpatient program, performing evaluations and treatment for outpatients, conducting physical examinations, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests, recording findings, and formulating plans and prognoses based on patients' conditions. The Associate Medical Director will also assist in performing consultations on the inpatient consult service at UHSH and participate in goals of care meetings with other members of the Palliative Medicine Team. Additionally, the role includes rounding on inpatients followed by the consultation service at UHSH. The Associate Medical Director will participate as a clinical educator, instructing and supervising learners such as Medical students, Internal Medicine Residents, Family Medicine Residents, and Geriatric Medicine Fellows who are rotating on the service. Participation in clinical research activities will also be expected, as determined by the Medical Director of the Service. The Associate Medical Director will become a member of the UHS Ethics Committee and perform other assigned clinical duties as determined by the Medical Director. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Palliative Medicine as well as a pertinent medical specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine) and maintain licensure in New York State.

Responsibilities
