AARP Massachusetts seeks a passionate, results-driven student interested in community outreach, social impact, and operations. AARP is working on policies that impact the everyday lives of residents of Massachusetts, from caregiving support to financial security and healthcare access. If you want to learn how to work with volunteers and peers on strategy, volunteer management, community outreach, and technology integration, this internship is for you.

, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.
Responsibilities
β€’ Apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to help promote policy issues on family caregiving, health and welfare, and retirement security
β€’ Engage in the communications strategies to advance our mission and the events organized as part of these efforts
β€’ Assist in planning events and updating systems, participate in team meetings and strategy discussions, collaborate in communications tactics, and engage in a support role for various remote and in-person events
β€’ Work closely with the State Director, Outreach, Business Operations, and Communications Teams on projects to increase AARP’s success in core priorities
β€’ Lead projects where appropriate, with an opportunity for visibility within the organization
Qualifications
β€’ The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, considered a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student, and will remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
β€’ Pursuing a degree in public administration, public health, communications, gerontology, or a related field
β€’ Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
β€’ Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
β€’ Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
β€’ Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
β€’ Familiarity with and interest in issues facing the aging population, and an understanding of the impact and power of a mission-driven organization utilizing volunteers and educational events to help people age with dignity

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
