Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M)

Braille Abilities, a growing TVI/O&M owned company, is looking for a full time Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) in Bakersfield, CA. We are looking for a self starter who is excellent with communication and documentation. Employees will be itinerant from their home offices in any of these locations and will serve students in the field daily.
O&M specialists are expected to:
ā¢ Be self-starters
ā¢ Work with students with a wide variety of needs, including sensory needs
ā¢ Maximize student independence
ā¢ Work as part of a team
ā¢ Understand the IEP process
ā¢ Maintain appropriate records and data
ā¢ Have excellent interpersonal skills
ā¢ Individualize instruction for the needs of each student
ā¢ Teach students skills needed for safe and effective travel
ā¢ Complete assessmentsRequired DocumentsResume, 2 referencesRequirements / QualificationsCalifornia Credential of Clinical Rehabilitative Services: Orientation and Mobility. Will consider applicants with ability to transfer O&M credential from out of state. Applicants who are dual certified in O&M and TVI are welcome to apply.
