About the position

New England Donor Services is seeking an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Donation Coordinator you will respond on-site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation and organ recovery.
Now interviewing for the next New Hire Donation Academy Orientation class scheduled for May 2026 for our Fulltime 36 Hours a week - Nights Hybrid position.
You will blend high level clinical and people skills to educate hospital staff on the donation process, work with donor families to obtain consent for donation and work with multiple surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success in this role requires a self-assured professional who has keen clinical assessment skills, the ability to be flexible and remain calm and effective in highly charged and clinically complex situations.
Schedule:
Orientation: After a general company wide week long onsite (Waltham, MA) orientation, you will participate in a specialized organ donation training program.
The New Hire Donation Academy is 3 days/week for first 3 weeks in Waltham office (generally Tuesday through Thursday on a day shift) and additional training in Waltham office throughout orientation program. Once the classroom training is completed, new hires will participate in a mix of 16-hour day and 12-hour night on-call shifts. Average 14 shifts per 4-week schedule + trainings + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout all of New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.
Independent: 12-hour night shifts, 8:00pm -8:00am shift. (3 shifts per week, on a 4 week schedule - up to 40hrs week ) + trainings + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.

Responsibilities
• respond on-site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation and organ recovery
• educate hospital staff on the donation process
• work with donor families to obtain consent for donation
• work with multiple surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation

Requirements
• Optimal candidates have critical care or trauma experience with medical/clinical credentials including experience managing complicated clinical event
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance (extensive driving throughout New England is required) and have reliable transportation.
• Critical thinking skills and keen clinical assessment skills
• Be compassionate and have conflict resolution skills
• Able to sit, stand or bend for extended period of time
• Have great work ethic and be forward thinking
• This position requires travel to Waltham Headquarters and various hospitals throughout New England
• Candidates will be required to travel by personal vehicle to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position. Must maintain the requirements of an “eligible driver” including being at least 21 years old, maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and required minimum personal automobile insurance per NEDS automobile policy.
• 3-5 years clinical experience/critical care experience and a Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Ideal candidates lives within an hour of Hartford, CT.
• In order to be employed at NEDS, you must be vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19.
