Ongoing Part-Time Bookkeeper for Mental Health Practice (Initial Clean-Up + Long-Term Support)

Description:

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented part-time bookkeeper for an ongoing engagement with a small mental health–focused practice. The ideal candidate is not only strong in day-to-day bookkeeping, but also highly skilled in accounting clean-up work—as the first phase of this role will involve organizing, correcting, and streamlining existing books.

Because the business owners do not have an accounting background, we value someone who communicates clearly, patiently, and can translate financial information into simple, actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

•Perform an initial deep clean-up of existing accounting records

• Reconcile past months, correct categorization errors, and ensure books are tax ready

• Maintain ongoing monthly financial records

• Manage accounts payable/receivable

• Prepare clear financial summaries and reports

• Coordinate with tax professionals as needed

• Explain financial data in easy-to-understand terms

• Recommend best practices for long-term bookkeeping organization

Requirements:

• Proven experience with bookkeeping clean-up projects (please highlight relevant examples)

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar software

• Experience with small businesses; healthcare or mental health field is a plus

• Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-accounting owners

• High attention to detail, reliability, and confidentiality

• Ability to work independently after onboarding

Engagement Details:

• Part-time, ongoing role following the initial clean-up

• Flexible hours estimated at 5-10 hours per month

• Long-term partnership preferred

If you’re skilled in both clean-up work and ongoing bookkeeping—and enjoy supporting mission-driven businesses—we’d love to hear from you. Please include a short summary of your experience and any similar projects you’ve completed.
