Job Title: Part-Time Newsletter Editor Department: Council on Aging Location: Brookline Senior Center Hours: 18 hours weekly Reports To: COA Director Salary Range: $20-$25/hour depending on qualifications The Council on Aging seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented part-time Newsletter Editor to support the daily operations of the COA and produce the monthly senior center newsletter in Canva. This position plays a vital role in keeping older adults informed, engaged, and connected to services, programs, and opportunities. Key Responsibilities Coordinate, write, and edit content for the monthly COA newsletter. Collaborate with COA staff and community partners to gather program information, articles, and updates. Use desktop publishing software Canva to design the layout. Ensure timely proofreading, printing, and distribution (both print and digital versions). Maintain an archive of past newsletters and track distribution metrics. Provide general administrative support to COA staff and programs. Answer phones, greet visitors, and respond to inquiries with professionalism and warmth. Enter data, update databases, and support reporting needs. Qualifications Prior experience in office administration, communications, or related field. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Canva; experience with publishing or layout software strongly preferred. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision. Comfort working with older adults and a commitment to supporting their needs. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a municipal, nonprofit, or senior services environment. Familiarity with ADA-accessible communication standards and age-friendly language.
