The New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) position in the GI Surgery & Surgical Oncology Acute Care unit at UNC Medical Center offers a unique opportunity for recent nursing graduates to begin their careers in a supportive and dynamic environment. Responsibilities
Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and patients.

Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance in revising care plans as needed.

Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.

Develops goals for professional growth and participates in unit goals and performance improvement activities.

Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and anticipates discharge needs.
,
Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care, addressing cultural and ethnic issues.
,
Reads relevant journals and brings ideas to the staff for assessment of applicability.
Requirements
RN License in North Carolina by the first day of employment.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
,
Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
,
No prior experience required, suitable for new graduates.
Nice-to-haves
Master's degree in Nursing.
